I WAS GLAD WHEN THEY SAID UNTO ME,

LET US GO INTO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD.’ PSALM 122:1
Do you love God’s house? You should! There you can hear His Word explained, find strategies and solutions for living, discover, develop and deploy your spiritual gifts in a nurturing environment, and form relationships that will strengthen and sustain you in the hard times. Where else can you go to find that? Did you know that Jesus went to church regularly? (See Luke 4:16). So did His disciples (See Acts 2:46). But nobody loved God’s house like the psalmist: ‘My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord…Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere’ (Psalm 84:2,10 NIV). Yale University conducted a 28-year survey which found that people who go to church regularly are happier, enjoy better health and live longer than those who don’t. Think about that! The survey of 28,000 older church attendees found that they had lower blood pressure, less stress and greater immunity to disease. And the non-churchgoers in the survey had a shortened lifespan, roughly equal to that of cigarette smokers. One of the interviewers asked an 80-year-old woman, who happened to be running on a treadmill at the time, what her secret was. She said ‘When you walk with God you have purpose so you live longer. And you have peace so you live better.’ Now, if you could find all that in a pill how much would you pay for it? And would anybody have to force you to take it? No. ‘I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.’ So make sure you’re there on Sunday!
